We will have specialized trainers and teachers. The dates are from 27th June to 22nd July. Registration is ongoing at the school.
The purpose of this year’s Summer School programme is for children to have fun, learn something new in interesting skill classes like: Robotics, Swimming, Musical Instrument, Lawn-Tennis, STEM, Hour of Code, Basketball and Football, Genius Mind, Speech and Drama, Home Management, Language, and Web Design.
Parents with children, especially holidaymakers who want to busy themselves during this time in an environment with other children, are encouraged to apply. It is open to children from all schools especially those between 2.5 and 11 years old. Children who want to see what it is like studying in an international school will benefit from this experience as they experiment with our Summer School programme.

‘Kannagara’ means the way of the soul. At Kannagara we organise programmes, retreats and coaching for people to come together and grow, learn from each other and excel in all the different areas of our life.
In our life we have different areas – relationships, health, family, money, career, contribution, friends, hobbies and some of these areas will be working for us, some are not working, and some may not be working as well as we would like them to. In our programmes, retreats and coaching we take a look at some of these areas of our life and we see where we are now, where we want to be and what is stopping us getting there.
“It is the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting” Paulo Coelho
What often stops us achieving our true potential is what we call limiting beliefs. We create these limiting beliefs from childhood and as we move through life. When you are able to break these limiting beliefs you can then start to create the reality you want. Whether you want a breakthrough in your career, in your relationship, your health or your family Kannagara is the place to come to – to work on yourself.
There is an unlimited potential that we all have inside of ourselves and often we limit our capacity as human beings. At Kannagara we look at unleashing your potential!
We believe that this world needs more leaders, healers, change makers and lots of love and kindness and we create this by creating communities to support each other to make a difference. Once we focus on our own growth and develop ourselves to be strong and capable human beings we will automatically inspire and impact those around us.
Are you looking to clarify your goals and vision?
Are you looking for emotional balance and the courage to follow through your intuition?
Would you like to have a breakthrough in your health, physical strength and vitality?
Would you like to be more peaceful and happy in your day to day life?
Expect to learn, make new friends, laugh, reflect and stretch yourself on any of our offerings.
‘Think deeper, grow further, seek longer and experience more’

The first half-century has been filled with successes and challenges, and during this time we have always kept the well-being and education of our students as our focus. While we have always been committed to providing a world class education, since introducing the International Baccalaureate programmes, our focus has been on developing the whole child - socially, physically, emotionally and, of course, academically.
The International School of Uganda (ISU) was the first school in Uganda to introduce the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme in Uganda in 1995. Today, ISU offers the three academically demanding IB Programmes; Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme for students ages 3 to 19 years of age. Our students graduate from ISU equipped with the skills to make a difference in a changing world.
ISU is dedicated to ensuring that all our students meet their full potential. We believe that optimal learning happens when students are at the centre of learning. Teachers build on students’ prior knowledge and skills and help them develop conceptual understandings that are transferable across contexts. Students work with others, learning collaboration skills as well as developing independence and confidence. Learning covers a wide range of subject areas including an emphasis on community engagement activities and interdisciplinary exploration.
To help students learn through these innovative approaches, ISU is committed to teacher professional development. By policy, a percentage of the annual budget is devoted to providing ongoing training for our faculty and staff.
The lush 33 acre purpose-built campus is located in Lubowa, Kampala. It includes four fully equipped science laboratories, three computer laboratories with access to the Internet and wireless connectivity campus-wide, a state-of-the art Science Centre, a library of 20,000 volumes, dining hall, 2 sports fields, sports hall, track, 2 swimming pools, 4 tennis courts, golf practice range and separate facilities for Early Childhood education. The school has a fleet of 17 buses that serve fifteen routes and transport students to and from school.
We believe that students learn from doing and from applying what they learn to real life experiences, both within the school and the outside community, to prepare them for life outside school. We are confident that this emphasis will continue through the next 50 years of ISU’s history.

That means “Hello, how are you?” in Luganda. If you thought that the Goethe-Zentrum Kampala only takes care of German culture and language, then you are mistaken. “But isn’t the Goethe a German based organization concerning itself with only German stuff?” you may wonder. It is true that the Goethe-Institut headquarters are located in Munich, but the organization is spread worldwide. Goethe-Zentrum Kampala’s core task is to promote Ugandan-German relationships and to build a platform for intercultural dialogue by offering numerous cultural events and language courses throughout the year.
Now the easiest conclusion would be to assume that the Goethe-Zentrum Kampala offers courses in German. Although we offer an abundance of courses in German at beginners’ and advanced levels, we also offer courses in local languages. How else could we name ourselves the Ugandan GermanCultural Society? As a cultural organization we also want to offer our students opportunities to learn more languages than German, to expand their cultural knowledge and to foster intercultural relations. The Goethe-Zentrum Kampala currently offers language courses in both Luganda and Kiswahili. Learning Luganda will help you to feel a closer connection to your Ugandan friends and family. On top of that, Kiswahili is the lingua franca of many Eastern and South-Eastern African countries and learning it will enable you to communicate in something other than English when visiting these countries. It’s also the language of communication in the armed forces and the UWA rangers, so is useful in the parks!
We offer Luganda and Kiswahili courses for both beginners and advanced learners. Classes take place four times per week for a duration of ten weeks. The next terms starts on 3rd July, registration on 13th June. The course fee is 300.000 UGX, including course books and material. So if you ever despaired of finding a good Luganda or Kiswahili course in Kampala, fret no more! The following quotes from our students show that is it an inspiring adventure:
“Learning Luganda really helped me to connect to my Ugandan friends. They are happy that you make an effort to communicate with them in something that is not English!“
“Kiswahili is such an interesting language to learn! It’s actually not as hard as I thought. And telling people you can speak Kiswahili is definitely a way to spice up a party and make yourself more interesting.”
In this spirit:
Mujje tusome atte tuyige oluganda — You are all welcome to come and learn Luganda at Goethe-Zentrum Kampala.

7Hills is a new International Secondary School - the first and only school in Kampala that focuses specifically on middle years education and the only school to offer the fantastic IMYC Curriculum. The school has a superb central location in Kololo, just off Lugogo Bypass opposite the Lugogo Sports Stadium: students have full access to all the sporting facilities at the sports stadium - both for field and indoor sports. 7Hills understands the critical role of sports in the development and well-being of teenagers: every day at 7Hills starts with at least 1 hour of sport - including basketball in the arena, lacrosse, football, swimming, tennis and cricket.
Not only does 7Hills have access to the best sporting facilities of any school in Uganda, it also has an extensive library, a fully equipped Science lab, a unique Information Technology Centre, a Skills Workshop and outdoor dining all set in a beautiful green setting in Kololo.
Our guiding curriculum is the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC). The latest research has shown consistently that the maturing adolescent brain needs very specific support and that students’ personal development cannot be neglected. The IMYC is designed around these concepts and it supports the academic and personal needs of the learner at this crucial stage in the students’ lives.
The IMYC, like its primary equivalent (the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) that is taught at most international schools in Kampala), is a rigorous academic curriculum that is taught through thematic units. These units challenge students to take the lead in their learning and be more independent. They provide an exciting and enriching learning experience that helps students to connect their learning across all subjects, preparing them for life and a lifelong learning journey.
7Hills teachers, who have extensive experience working with children in various communities both in Uganda and internationally, use dynamic and practical learning techniques that encourage young minds to express themselves, think critically, solve problems and enjoy what they are learning. This is done through 10 main subjects, which are: English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Information Technology, Art, Music, Drama, Physical Education and a mandatory language of choice.
As a non-profit organisation, 7Hills boasts the most competitive fees for International Secondary Education in Kampala. As a parent-founded school, we appreciate the complexities of tuition payment, particularly when more than one child is involved. 7Hills takes each child and their family into consideration when they apply. For self funding families, bursaries of up to 30% are available.
7Hills is currently enrolling for years 7 & 8 (students aged 11 - 13 years) for August 2017 admissions. For more information, visit our website at www.7hillskampala.com. Visits to the school can be arranged at firstname.lastname@example.org or on +256 752 744 557.
