Murchison Falls National Park
Murchison Falls National Park sits on the shore of Lake Albert in northwest Uganda. Its known for Murchison falls where the Victoria Nile river surges through a narrow gap over a massive drop. Park wildlife includes elephants, hippos, and chimpanzees in the Kaniyo Pabidi mahogany forest.
Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth National Park is in the southwest of Uganda. Leopards roam the Mweya peninsula, which lies beside Lake Edward. Nearby Lake Katwe is a huge volcanic explosion crater. Boats on the Kazinga channel float past hippos and Nile crocodiles whereas chimpanzees inhabit the Kyambura gorge.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in southwest Uganda. It’s home to many of the worlds remaining mountain gorillas, who feed on roots, leaves, and fruits from the parks many tree and fern species. Restricted numbers of viewing permits help protect the endangered gorilla families.
Lake Mburo National Park
Lake Mburo National Park is a compact gem located convenientlycloseto the highway that connects Kampala to the parks of western Uganda. It is the smallest of Uganda’s savannahnational parks and underlainby ancientPrecambrian metamorphic rocks that date back more than 500 million years.
Kibale National Park
Kibale National Park is located in the southern region, protecting moist evergreen rain forest. It is 766 square kilometers in size and is located between 1,100 meters to 1,600 meters in elevation.
Kidepo National Park
Kidepo valley national park is 1,442 square kilometers located in the Karamoja region in northwestern Uganda. Kidepo is rugged savannah dominated by the 2,750 meters Mount Morungole and transected by the Kidepo and Narus rivers.
Mount Elgon National Park
Mount Elgon National Park is a national park 140 kilometers northeast of Lake Victoria. The park covers an area of 1,279 square kilometers and is bisectedby the border of Kenya add Uganda.
Lake Bunyonyi is in south-wstern Uganda between Kisoro and Kabale and its close t0 the border of Rwanda. The lake appears on the 5,000 Ugandan shillin note unver the title “Lake Bunyonyi and terraces”.
Semeliki National Park
Semeliki National Park is located in Bwanda county, a remote part of the Bundibugyo district in western Uganda. It was made a national park in October 1993 and is one of Uganda’s newest national parks.
Rwenzori Mountains National Park
Rwenzori Mountains National Park is a Ugandan national and UNESCO World Heritagesite located in the Rwenzori mountains. Almost 1,000 square kilometers, the park has Africa’s third highest mountain peak and many waterfalls, lakes and glaciers.
